Community is as deeply necessary to a writer as reading. It is a source of assistance, understanding, and camaraderie. It is an exchange of ideas, a wellspring of inspiration, and sometimes, quite literally, a lifeline. But community is also give-and-take; it’s collaborative, mutual, organic.

Palimpsest Writers’ Collective is a dynamic group of diverse, emerging writers committed to stregthening our writing craft in community with each other. Taking our inspiration from the erased and unerasable texts found under the belly of canonical literature manuscripts, we seek to articulate the unspeakable, tell the stories erased by those in power, and highlight the voices of the ignored.

As a part of Palimpsest, you will:

  1. Develop new writing skills and strengthen your existing ones
  2. Meet a dynamic community of like-minded writers
  3. Engage meaningfully with the literary community
  4. Discover new and exciting opportunities
  5. Read some of the most successful writers out there to learn what they do best

Palimpsest is a writer-centric community. As a member, you will have a say in the direction the group takes and agency in what you want to get out of this community. The goal is for each member to develop actionable skills that they can use to complete their own writing projects, find creative resources to solve any problems that arise, and find that feeling of creative gratification.

You will have the choice to engage as little or as much as your want in the group. You can receive feedback on a draft-in-progress in one month and read more than you write in the next. But every single month you will have the opportunity to learn a new skill, discover an excellent writer, and practice your own craft.
